An incredible R&B interpretation of Kendrick Lamar’s song and the video marks a solid directorial debut by my homie JL Brown. One take vids are hard to pull off without the help of elaborate choreography, effects or a stunning location, all of which JL didn’t have the luxury of. What he did have was Mateo as raw as I’ve seen him in front of the camera. Simple is brilliant sometimes. Download it here.

This show is so much bigger than me and I hope you’ll join the movement.

I’ve previewed it, posted a look at the making of it and now it’s time for you to hear it.
Suite 823 is Mateo’s best work so far.
Download it here.
Mateo’s upcoming project, Suite 823 is a real evolution for him. He invited me to Raphael Saadiq’s studio in LA (where he recorded a lot of it) and he played me 6 new amazing songs.
Mateo actually released one of the songs from Suite 823 this week. It’s called ‘Carry On‘ which you can download for free just below.
“I came up with the song while literally walking through the streets of NYC,” Mateo explains, “The song is about those situations when you are talking to a girl who is still tied to a bad relationship and you are telling her that you can take her from that situation. It’s the idea that if you are happier when you’re around me then lets ‘carry on’ to a happier life.”
The lead single from the upcoming Love & Stadiums II EP. Directed by David “Dahveed” Telles. Some classic NYC shots in this.

So proud of my friend Mateo. Since signing with Krucial Noise he’s released an incredible mixtape and now this new single that Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz got on too. Have a listen below then download it here.

If you’ve been following my career away from the camera you know how I signed Mateo to Myspace Records then eventually linked him up with Alicia Keys’ producer Krucial. Well they decided to have some fun with a handful of hits like Kanye’s Runaway while sharing a few of the original songs they’ve come up with too. You’ll also recognize a handful of the best remixes from the mixtapes we worked on over the years.
Have a listen to this new original from it called Pace Of My Heart:
