These performances on SNL over the weekend got me excited about Kanye’s sixth solo album Yeezus (dropping June 18). He’s at his best when he’s rocking the boat.

At this point I think we all expect Kanye to only put out incredible music. Well once again Mr. West proves to be the kind of artist who doesn’t just know how to show off his talents, he knows how to showcase others too. The way he put together Cruel Summer is impressive. The G.O.O.D. Music roster is obviously abundant with talent but the way Kanye uses them in all the right spots is what distinguishes this album. The music ranges from braggadocios rap at its finest (Mercy, Clique) to songs with more introspection to them (Bliss, Creepers). It all works together as a cohesive album that I can actually listen to all the way through. In this single driven market that’s really saying something. Cruel Summer is one of the best group efforts I’ve ever heard in hip hop and it’s already sold over 200K. Download it here.
#1 – Naughty by Nature talks generational gaps and working with Tupac.
#2 – 2 Chainz tells us how he connected with Kanye West.
#3 – Sean Price and Prodigy share their best tour stories.
G.O.O.D. music is not lacking in the swag department.
Who do you think dropped the best verse though? Kanye, Big Sean, Pusha T or 2 Chainz?
Directed by Romain Gavras. There’s so much in this. Power to the people. Have faith.

I don’t love the use of the word nigga but I’m a fan of what they did with this video.
If beautiful women dancing in bikinis offends you- don’t press play on this video.
This year’s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival happened over the weekend and Q-Tip was the headliner. During his set he brought out Kanye to perform Award Tour. So dope. By the way, I got to see the documentary about A Tribe Called Quest that Michael Rapaport directed and it’s definitely worth checking out.
What a beautiful dancer. You might recognize Galen as the lead girl from Ne-Yo’s recent videos. This is such a great interpretation of one of my favorite songs from Kanye’s latest.
