Jeff just seems to be getting better. On this mixtape he features some of the hottest new songs along with classics from back in the day and it all seems to make sense together the way he mixes them. Shout out to LRG and Complex for sponsoring it.
Suite 823 is Mateo’s best work so far.

Earlier this year we all got to enjoy Miguel’s Art Dealer Chic series and even a video for the previous incarnation of Adorn. Well Miguel added a minute to the song and did this improved video for it to serve as the first official release from his upcoming sophomore LP, Kaleidoscope Dream due on October 2.
Mateo recently released the track Carry On and this week he released another new gem called Looking You Up from his upcoming mixtape Suite 823 (out August 1st). Get an inside look at how they made Suite 823 above then stream and download Looking You Up right here.
Don’t take this too literally. The Dreams new album, Love IV MMXII drops August 14th.
Theophilus consistently comes with fresh music and this collection of 17 new tracks keeps it going. A$AP Rocky, Big Boi, Sade and Mark Ronson all lend their talents to it. Theophilus even does an incredible reinterpretation of the Wang Chung classic Dance Hall Days which you can sample below. Download Rose Island Vol. 1 free right here.
Mateo’s upcoming project, Suite 823 is a real evolution for him. He invited me to Raphael Saadiq’s studio in LA (where he recorded a lot of it) and he played me 6 new amazing songs.
Mateo actually released one of the songs from Suite 823 this week. It’s called ‘Carry On‘ which you can download for free just below.
“I came up with the song while literally walking through the streets of NYC,” Mateo explains, “The song is about those situations when you are talking to a girl who is still tied to a bad relationship and you are telling her that you can take her from that situation. It’s the idea that if you are happier when you’re around me then lets ‘carry on’ to a happier life.”
Unless you’ve been on a silent meditation retreat, by now you’ve probably heard the news of Frank Ocean coming out about his first love actually being a man. His bravery in the face of hip hop’s antiquated tendencies is remarkable, actually pretty historic. It’s time for tolerance and acceptance in every lane of society so I applaud Frank. I also happen to think his major label debut Channel Orange is a great download. Check out his national TV debut on Jimmy Fallon where he performed Bad Religion (a song that echoes his statement powerfully) then download Frank’s album here.
