I love hearing the inception of songs. For Kanye West a lot of times that means building a song off a great sample so hearing the records that he mined for those samples is a treat for a music geek like me. Thankfully Ty Kidd at FSD put together this compilation of songs that Kanye pulled from to make his beats on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Here’s Kanye’s short film to accompany his new album My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy. It features songs like ‘Power’, ‘Runaway’, ‘All Of The Lights’, ‘Hell Of A Life’ and others. Some powerful images, symbolism and a great performance by Selita Ebanks as the phoenix. After the film was premiered on MTV, Kanye and Sway had one of the most thoughtful interviews I’ve ever seen which you can catch here.
If you frequent this site then you’re probably familiar with Erin Christine. She’s a brand new artist I’ve been supporting since I saw a youtube clip of her performing in her apartment back in May. Well I made a point of reaching out to her and directing the video to her debut single Say which was just premiered by Geespin on Jam’n 94.5, the #1 station for hip hop and R&B in Boston. The first time an artist hears their song on the radio is an incredible moment so I’m glad Erin decided to Ustream when it happened. If you don’t have time to watch the whole stream above just skip to around the 9 minute mark for that moment. So amazing.
