In this day of rampant cynicism it feels good to know that there are people who believe that they can make a difference and then really do something about it. I’m honored to know one of those people, his name is Jordan Wagner and he’s the executive director of Generosity Water. Him and his team are dedicated to fixing the clean water crisis around the world. Limited access to clean drinking water, insufficient sanitation and poor hygiene kills more people than wars, famine and AIDS combined, an estimated 3.6 million annually.
Each year Generosity Water throws a fundraising event called The Night of Generosity and I’ve made a point of donating at it for clean water wells to be built in my fathers homeland of Haiti. What’s great about the way Generosity Water works is that they believe in complete accountability and transparency about where donated money goes. This video is a prime example of that.
It’s so incredibly fulfilling to be able to see the well I funded and to see the community who will have clean water because of it. I traveled to Haiti earlier this year and I was reminded of how amazing and deserving Haitians really are. Please check out the Generosity Water website to see how you can make a difference too.
My favorite video she’s done so far.
Today my friends at I Am That Girl are launching “That Girl Rocks” which will inspire media that lifts girls up instead of breaking them down! Check out their page, see your favorite musicians and celebrities, win some cool prizes, and be part of the conversation!
This could change your life. Just sayin’.
Dr. King’s last speech. Definitely a legacy to carry on.
Once and while you see a movie that really hits you. That digs in to something so embedded into where you’re at in that moment in your life. Machine Gun Preacher just did that for me. For anyone who thinks about how they can change the world it’ll bring up questions of what’s the best way to do that. The fact that the movie is based on the true story of Sam Childers makes it that much more powerful. Make a point of seeing this movie.
Music is a helluva drug. Shouts to David Guetta.
An incredible look at what went into Beyoncé’s latest and my favorite from her so far.
